No More Diet!

Update:

I am happy to say that my no artificial sugar diet is officially over! It has really been such a challenging experience to try. It is also the halfway point of the genius hour project, meaning only two more weeks till my final presentation!

Throughout these following two last weeks, my plan is to continue further research on how sugar affects our bodies and create my presentation. Hopefully I succeed in finding useful information on the chemicals in sugar and no-sugar diets.

Overall. I would say that eating only natural sugars has made me less tired, making my prediction correct. I think this is due to how sugar's chemicals affect the human body. Although it made me crave eating more sugar, I believe it overall  benefited me.

Update: DAY 4

Update: Just to imform you all, I recently started my no artificial sugar diet this past Monday. So far it has been going pretty well, I'd say! The day before we were supposed  to start, Sunday, my family was out and about doing some shopping. That day, we were trying to prep for the two weeks to come. While we were out, we all started to get pretty hungry. After a while, we gave up and went to eat at the Sams Club food court. This showed and proved to us that this was going to be harder than we thought.

That night, my family and I prepared as much as possible for the next day. We packed lunches for my sisters and I, and made the chicken for dinner the following night. Experiencing that previous morning made us realize we needed to be as ready as ever.

Anyway, these past few days have been pretty good. On Monday and Tuesday, I abided by my restrictions and ate what I was supposed to do. Then, on Wednesday, my little sister turned 11 years old. Every year, on our families birthdays we go out to dinner wherever they choose. Last night, my sister chose Chili's. I cannot express how hard it was not to order a soda and the usual food I'd get. But, I have to say I did pretty well .

In my research, I've found this really interesting fact:
Sugar is TEN times more addicting than drugs. This explains why it was so hard for me not to order a Dr.Pepper. Sugar wasn't even included in people's diets in the past. Today, people rely on sugar in their meals. Anyway, I'll post again in the future! Stay tuned! :)

HOW AM I FEELING ( POST DIET )

UPDATE:
So I begin my new diet tomorrow and I am VERY anxious and excited! But, before I start, I'm going to share how my day went and how eating sugar made me feel.  Today,  this is the sugar that I consumed:

-1 peep (the easter candy)
-sweettarts
-an oatmeal creme pie

At the moment, I'm feeling fine but a little tired.... this is helping my prediction that I think no sugar will help me feel LESS tired. The hardest part of this diet will probably be remembering NOT to drink my favorite sodas and candies :( . Tomorrrow night, I will record how my mom and I feel after our FIRST day of no artificial sugars! Can't wait for you all to see it! Stay tuned and I'll be back this time tomorrow!   :)

Driving Questions

Okay, so I've decided my driving question:

What happens when I cut artificial sugar out of my diet?

Over the period of this month, I will cut out ALL artificial/added sugars out of my everyday diet. My mom will also be taking on this challenge. As the month goes on, I will post and record how the no-sugar diet is going every week.
         I have a few predictions;
-I think I will be LESS tired
   - I think my face will clear up
Today in English One class I began researching my topic. So far, I have to steer clear of any soda, candy, white bread, white rice, white potatoes, corn, watermelon, pineapple, and refined sugar. It WILL be hard, but I also have to learn to ignore the fact that I will want to eat sugary foods.
Every week or so, I will write down how my mom and I feel our diet is going. I will research more and more every week to go more in depth about how sugar affects a person's body. I will start eating no artificial sugars effective this Saturday, April 11th. I will officially END this diet on May 2nd, meaning I will be on this diet for three weeks total! After all this is over, I will present how it's been to my class! I'm super excited to try something new like this, and I can't wait to update you guys!

Introduction to Genius Hour

Hey guys! My name is Jenna and I live in Texas.Throughout the next month, I will be learning about a certain topic for my English 1 class. It's called genius hour, and we get to choose a driving question for our research. As of right now, I'm still determining my driving question, but I will post it once I decide. I will definitely have my driving question by this Friday, April 10th. Over the period of this month, I will research my topic at school and at home. Every week, I will update my blog at least once to record my process on this project for you guys to see. Happy Blogging! :)
